Summary

Dan and Cathy's swinging adventures continue in this SUNSTONE spin-off as their relationship is strained, perhaps irreparably。 Love conquers all in this stylish slice-of-life take on an ethically non-monogamous couple。

Volume 3 of Yishan Li and Matt Hawkins's sexually adventurous couple, Dan and Cathay continue。 Vol 2 had left us expecting a Dan to become a more active partner as the couple slowly moves deeper into the swinging life style。 Instead, he reverts back to his cautious self。 Cathay is mostly ready for them to experiment further。 Wife sharing, threesomes, foursomes and a toe into the orgy scene。 He has rules and reluctance。 Besides the almost carefully dawn art work of always beautiful people en flag Volume 3 of Yishan Li and Matt Hawkins's sexually adventurous couple, Dan and Cathay continue。 Vol 2 had left us expecting a Dan to become a more active partner as the couple slowly moves deeper into the swinging life style。 Instead, he reverts back to his cautious self。 Cathay is mostly ready for them to experiment further。 Wife sharing, threesomes, foursomes and a toe into the orgy scene。 He has rules and reluctance。 Besides the almost carefully dawn art work of always beautiful people en flagrante, Volume four has a few more reminders that all of their fun takes place in part of a larger reality that includes curious young children and a suspicious mother-in-law。 Even as dating is a snake pit for single folks finding the right match ups for couples with rules remains a matter of rules before looks, and looks before anything else。 The swinging waters are as shallow as all relationship building and navigating is work。 What stays constant with the earlier volumes is the series is consciously a how to guide。 There is little effort to over romanticizes the journey。 Either the female leads in full agreement or the question of consent remains a problem。 Being a young couple, they have no time for bellies going slack or the usual indications of child birth。 It continues to bother me that Cathay is Asian, but she is never drawn as such and her ethnic persona only seems to be acknowledged when she is dealing with her mother。 Volume three ends with the usual instructional paragraphs, guidance for newbies。 The storyline ends with a real world change up that may make volume 4, if there is one a much steeper lesson in life as a swinger。 。。。more

That ending totally threw me off!!! I need more!!!

The writing felt a bit weaker and the scenes a bit more rushed than previous volumes。 Some of the conflicts and conversations needed a bit more time to breath。

Another fine development in the Swing universe, a spin off(ish) from Sunstone, with a twist in the tale。 And, by the sound of it, there's some great cross-overs coming 。。。 Another fine development in the Swing universe, a spin off(ish) from Sunstone, with a twist in the tale。 And, by the sound of it, there's some great cross-overs coming 。。。 。。。more

While this album was fun, I felt like it didn't really give me much new stuff。 I like how they've involved the many dramatical moments of a lifestyle marraige, as well as a normal marraige, but I have to admit that's not why I'm reading the comic。 It is still interesting, though, if a little scary at times。 Guess that shows how well-written the characters are, if nothing else ;) While this album was fun, I felt like it didn't really give me much new stuff。 I like how they've involved the many dramatical moments of a lifestyle marraige, as well as a normal marraige, but I have to admit that's not why I'm reading the comic。 It is still interesting, though, if a little scary at times。 Guess that shows how well-written the characters are, if nothing else ;) 。。。more

fun series though the twist at the end was very dumb。

I really, really enjoyed this book on adult lifestyles and real-life situations!!! Great stories, great art, great conflicts, great just about everything (except the cliffhanger ending)。 So glad I've now discovered Matt Hawkins and crew; I look forward to reading a lot more of their works! Swing continues it's love story of a married couple trying swinging and their mistakes and triumphs! This time we start with some fighting。 After Cathy sees one of their swing friends at work and doesn't mention it to Dan and Dan finds out, things go sour。 They fight, they go to therapy, and they try to fix things。 This all feels a bit rushed and probably the worst but of something that could have been more interesting given it took its time。 However, the second half is far more interesting and Swing continues it's love story of a married couple trying swinging and their mistakes and triumphs! This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 2。5 starsI hate to give this a low rating as I really enjoyed Sunstone and Sugar and it is nowhere near as good。 The art work seems to have slightly deteriorated this volume。The problem is Cathy or Dan are not likable。 Cathy is manipulative and Dan is weak。 Cathy’s character is supposed to be strong but she comes across and petulant and selfish an example is when she gets caught breaking the rules they set together and got others to help cover it up, she gets upset when Dan finally grows a bit o 2。5 starsI hate to give this a low rating as I really enjoyed Sunstone and Sugar and it is nowhere near as good。 The art work seems to have slightly deteriorated this volume。The problem is Cathy or Dan are not likable。 Cathy is manipulative and Dan is weak。 Cathy’s character is supposed to be strong but she comes across and petulant and selfish an example is when she gets caught breaking the rules they set together and got others to help cover it up, she gets upset when Dan finally grows a bit of a back bone and gets angry with her。 Cathy cannot understand or care how the breach of trust has hurt him。 This volume is all about Cathy and has lost some of the intimacy of the first two volumes。After the initial arc closes the author seems to have changed direction and somehow Dan is just fine with swinging without any real explanation。Now Cathy has now got Dan into the swing life and he arranges for her to sleep with another man, the condom bursts at that point Dan advises her to get checked for STDs and she is just relieved that he has not asked her to stop swinging rather than fearing the possibility of contracting a STD Cathy’s character is also very naive, at the end of the volume she finds out that she is pregnant。 Why didn’t she take the morning after pill?I have got the the point that I don’t really care if they split up or not in the next volume when Dan finds out that she is pregnant and they have to deal with the fact it may be by another man。Worst possible plot line for the next volume is Dan easily accepts another man’s child starting is because he loves Cathy。 The ideal would be that the pregnancy causes Cathy and Dan to reflect and answer the important question, was swinging the answer to their problem or just the cause of more?Compared to Sunstone that had great characters and was a love story that contained SM, and Sugar was love story about two damaged people who come together in an unusual relationship, Swing is a story about swinging that just happens to have a couple in it。 。。。more

I’d say more of a 2。5 stars though

A look at the alternative lifestyle - revealing and sexyI have not read Volumes 1 and 2 but a synopsis at the start explains how this couple try the swinging lifestyle and the effect on their lives。 This continues in this volume as they meet others and develop what they are getting into。 There’s some introspection and character development as well, of course, of sex scenes。 It’s titillating and entertaining stuff。 I received a copy in exchange for an honest review。
